There are many reasons why you might want to keep your account safe on the world-famous sandbox building game that is Roblox. For one, Robux is often acquired using real money, so you don’t want to lose the hard-earned cash you’ve worked to accrue. For another, your creations are your own; even if someone hacks you and only intends to mess around with what you’ve made, that should be reason enough to want to protect your Roblox account. Keeping your account safe involves very similar steps to everything else, so here’s how you can keep your account secure and free of hackers on Roblox.
Come up with a unique password
This is one of the most obvious and straightforward ways you can keep your Roblox account safe. Creating a unique password for every single service you use will help keep your accounts separate and stop hackers from being able to use a single password to access multiple accounts. Here’s a foolproof method courtesy of the webcomic XKCD. Pick four words that don’t make sense together but can form a sentence; for example, “horse trumpet walking cannon”. Imagine a situation in which those words could work together, and if you need to, replace letters with numbers. No hacker will ever guess this, as it’s not a common word usage. Voila – you’ve just created an easy password for you to remember that’s totally hack-proof!
Enable Roblox’s 2-step verification
In order to get the most out of Roblox security, you should think about enabling the game’s 2-step verification process. Doing so couldn’t be any easier. First, you’ll need to log in to your Roblox account. Once you’ve done this, head over to your account’s Settings page. It should be represented as a gear icon near the top-right corner of the website. If you’re on mobile, you should instead look for the hamburger menu – the three dots – and click “More”. After this, choose the Security tab, then click “Turn two-step verification on”. Once you’ve done this, Roblox will send you an email every single time you log in so that you can click a unique link only you can see.
Be careful when talking about your password
This one should be a no-brainer, but you never know. If you’re prone to talking about your Roblox creations with your friends or family, then be very careful who you speak to and do not – under any circumstances – give out your password or personal login information. Doing so will immediately compromise your account and give someone else easy access to it, so even if you trust the person implicitly, you shouldn’t give your information to them. Roblox support staff likely won’t need your password to be able to access your information, too, so if someone contacts you pretending to be working with the support team for the game and asking for your password, don’t listen to them.
Log out when you’re finished – especially on shared computers
If there’s any chance whatsoever that someone else will be able to play Roblox on the same computer that you’re using, then you should log out of your account the instant you’re done with the game. That goes triple for if you’re using a shared public computer. While internet cafes are dying a sad death, there are still some left in some parts of the world, so if you’re playing Roblox on a computer to which other members of the public have access, there could be a way for them to get your information after you’re done if you don’t log out. Even if you’re playing at home on a computer you’re sure nobody else can access, logging out is good practice.
Roblox games can be suspicious too
Don’t think that you’re safe just because you’re past the login screen and are now playing Roblox. Believe it or not, some people hide unscrupulous intent behind actual games within Roblox, so if a game ever asks you for your login information, you should absolutely not follow that link or provide the information it’s asking for. There are no exceptions to this rule; the Roblox staff will never create a game that asks for your personal information. On the same tack, you should never personally create a game that does this either. Just stick to platformers, puzzle games, and everything else wonderful that the Roblox community creates and you’ll be fine.
